Lagos Deputy Governor calls for community support


The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Oluranti Adebule on Sunday called on community leaders and the public to support the state government to promote sustainable development in the state.

Adebule made the call at a grand reception organised in her honour by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Badagry Division Forum.

She said that ensuring good governance require concerted efforts between the government and the people.

''Government need the support and cooperation of the people to carry out its duties diligently. Out success is dependent on the people's support.

''To ensure an inclusive government, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode has established the Office of Civic Engagement  as way to get the people involved in government policies.

''Thank you for the trust and confidence you have in me. I promise not to disappoint you, '' she said.

His Royal Highness, Oba Mohammadu Aladi, the Ijanikin of Ijanikin urged  the Deputy Governor to give more priority to sustainable development at the grassroots during her tenure.

Aladi also urged political leaders to shun divisive politics and work in harmony.

In his remarks, Mr Rabiu Oluwa, the Divisional leader of the forum congratulated the Deputy Governor, describing her appointment as a demonstration of the people’s confidence in her administrative capability.

Oluwa urged her to use her office to achieve meaningful impact on the people of Badagry division.

He xpressed the need for government to reciprocate the mandate freely given by the people to improve their living standard.

 ''The people have actually demonstrated their support to government through their votes.

''It is therefore left to the government to also reciprocate this gesture by embarking on projects that would add value to  the people’s living standard, ''he said.
