IGBOS NOT AT WAR WITH LAGOS YORUBAS

Igbo pressure group known as The Igbo Action (TIA) hereby wishes to refute the resume statements emanating from certain group of individuals who routinely masquerade as agents of ethnic unity.

We have noticed with gross dismay the divisive move of certain group of individuals who parade as agents of ethnic unity in Nigeria.

One wonders what really their mission is. Why over flog an issue you earlier labeled nullity. Where is the war?

Is it offensive for a people to demand mutual respect, and continued relevance in the governance process of the state where they contribute meaningfully in its economic growth?

Is it wrong for a people to civilly register their dissatisfaction in the manner they are being treated, marginalized, intimidated and relegated to the background on issuesthat concerns their welfare?

Let it be known that Igbos in Lagos have no intention of engaging Lagos Yorubas in any kind of war, we are a civilized people and very friendly with any environment we find ourselves.

All we are demanding is that politicians should respect our views and perspectives on the emerging political dispensation in Nigeria.

Our lives, welfare, investments and legitimate desires should be respected and protected.

Over the years Igbos in Lagos have maintained a peaceful co-existence and will continue to enjoy same.

We hereby warn desperate politicians who are hell-bent on dividing Igbos into hundreds of uncoordinated groups for selfish goals to desist from promoting negative propaganda targeted at instilling fears and destabilizing patriotic Igbos living in Lagos.

We are not at war with any ethnic nationalities in Lagos,
and wish to warn against inciting our people against any ethnicities.

We are citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and are free to
reside and do our business anywhere in Nigeria without fear.
We hereby call on Igbos living or doing business in Lagos and environs to go about their daily business without fear of molestation.

Continueb to be law abiding, and shun any act likely to cause breach of peace
and order.
