Awka – Dr Esther Somefun, a Gender and Reproductive Health Analyst, on Sunday, says that women who have undergone  Female Genital Mutilation  (FGM) find it difficult to enjoy  sex . Somefun, work with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said that it was difficult for circumcised women to enjoy sexual pleasure due to the complications of FGM. She described FGM also known as female circumcision, as the partial or total removal of female external genitalia due to non-medical reasons. “Due to the complications of FGM, women find it difficult to enjoy sex because the external female organ, the clitoris which ensure lubrication during sex has been cut off. “These women can also experience painful sex, infertility, pelvic inflammatory infections, menstrual pains and keloids. “FGM can also cause obstructed labour due to the narrowing of the external genitalia. Awka,  The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill for the establishment of Anambra State Erosion,  Watershed  and Climate Change  Agency to ensure environmental sustainability in the state. The Assembly passed the bill after Third Reading on the floor of the House on Friday. The lawmakers took turns to perfect some corrections in the sections of the bill before it was finally passed by the House. The Speaker, Mr Uche Okafor, conducted a voice vote on each of the sections of the bill before passing it into law  by the House. Okafor said: “Having considered the Third Reading for  a bill to establish the Anambra State Erosion,  Watershed  and Climate Change  Agency 2020, and to provide for other related matters,  the bill is hereby passed into law.’’ The speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Mr Pius Udo to forward a clean copy of the bill to Gov. Hon.  Charles Obimma representing Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly  Awka: The Anambra State House of Assembly on Friday, urged Gov.  Willie Obiano to constitute a taskforce aimed at stemming “the growing epidemic” of substandard goods and counterfeit drugs in the state. The resolution followed a motion raised under Matters of Urgent Public Importance by Mr Charles Obimma (Oyi), who lamented that the state had become a dumping ground for substandard products. According to Obimma, substandard goods and counterfeit drugs is a lucrative business for bad people trading on it but dangerous because it kills and destroys lives in thousands. “Eighty per cent of the drugs and goods in our markets are fake and substandard. Alhaji Kabiru Rabiu, the Executive Director, Bua Group, business conglomerate, has urged Nigerians to embrace technology to ease monetary transaction and increase financial inclusion for individuals and businesses in the country. Rabiu made the call at the launch of `Hollaport’, a payment and messaging mobile application on Monday in Lagos. He said that financial inclusion was a major issue in the country, with half of the adult population being “unbanked” and only a fraction of the “banked” using technology in their processes. According to a 2018 survey by Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access (EFInA), about 40.1 million or 41.6 per cent of Nigerian adults are financially excluded, and 48.6 per cent are financially included. The survey also said that 58.4 per cent of Nigerians were financially served. The war against malaria has been on for long, but still seems far from ending as malaria remains endemic and life-threatening in developing countries including Nigeria. Medical experts blame malaria prevalence on a number of factors including inadequate funds, drug counterfeiting, malaria resistance to drugs, mosquitos’ resistance to insecticides and global warming. Analysts also identified dearth of research into malaria cure, as a major factor.
