1. All burial/funeral ceremonies of indigenous deceased persons *must* be registered with the town union of the deceased persons. Registration fee is NGN1,500 2. Convid-19: Six more persons isolated in Lagos

A family of four children and their teacher who recently returned from the United States of America and suspected for COVID-19 has been isolated at the Biosecurity Facility of the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, the Lagos State Government has said. Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi who disclosed this today at a news conference to give updates on COVID19 in Lagos stated that the four children and their teacher were in close proximity with someone who had coronavirus infection. He explained further that the first test carried out on them was negative adding that a confirmation tests will still be repeated to determine the next point of action. Abayomi also announced that a man who recently returned from the UK and suspected for COVID19 is in Isolation at the Mainland Hospital noting that his samples have been collected and test being conducted to determine his status. Owerri,  Feb. 28  A gender rights Activist,  Mrs Dorothy Njemanze on Friday, said social conditioning was still a major problem hindering women and girls  from aspiring and  asserting themselves in the society as well as harness their potential.  Njemanze said this at a two-day workshop tagged "Gender Reporting for Media Professionals, organised by TechHer-Nigeria in collaboration with Premium Times Newspapers and Ford Foundation. Lagos confirms first case of Coronavirus

Feb.  28, 2020 The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, on Friday confirmed the first case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak in Lagos, saying it was brought in by an Italian citizen. Abayomi, however, said the State Emergency Operations Centre in response to the case and implementing firm control measures has been activated. He said in Lagos that the case was brought in by an Italian citizen who entered Nigeria on Feb. 25 from Milan, Italy for a brief business visit. The commissioner said that the case was confirmed on Feb. 27, and has been reported to the Federal Ministry of Health. Convid-19: Anambra Assembly urges Obiano to construct quarantine facility

The Anambra House of Assembly has called on Gov. Willie Obiano to direct the state Ministry of Health to construct a quarantine facility to check the spread of viral diseases in an event of health emergency in the state. The House made the call in its resolution on Thursday, following a motion moved by Mr Lawrence Ezeudu (Dunukofia) under Matters of Urgent Public Importance. Ezeudu said it was important to have a quarantine facility in an outskirt area to house people afflicted with contagious and dreaded disease separate from other patients and people. FRSC launches magazine in Anambra to educate road users on safety

A magazine, “Safety Focus”, aims at educating road users on safety measures to reduce avoidable road accidents in Anambra, was on Tuesday launched by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The launch of the magazine was part of the activities by Anambra Command of FRSC to mark the 32nd anniversary of the corps. The Anambra Sector Commander, Mr Andrew Kumapayi, said in Awka that about 90 per cent of passengers and freights were transported by roads due to absence of fully functioning railways and water transportation system. Awka – Dr Esther Somefun, a Gender and Reproductive Health Analyst, on Sunday, says that women who have undergone  Female Genital Mutilation  (FGM) find it difficult to enjoy  sex . Somefun, work with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said that it was difficult for circumcised women to enjoy sexual pleasure due to the complications of FGM. Awka,  The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill for the establishment of Anambra State Erosion,  Watershed  and Climate Change  Agency to ensure environmental sustainability in the state. The Assembly passed the bill after Third Reading on the floor of the House on Friday. The lawmakers took turns to perfect some corrections in the sections of the bill before it was finally passed by the House. The Speaker, Mr Uche Okafor, conducted a voice vote on each of the sections of the bill before passing it into law  by the House. Hon.  Charles Obimma representing Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly  Awka: The Anambra State House of Assembly on Friday, urged Gov.  Willie Obiano to constitute a taskforce aimed at stemming “the growing epidemic” of substandard goods and counterfeit drugs in the state. The resolution followed a motion raised under Matters of Urgent Public Importance by Mr Charles Obimma (Oyi), who lamented that the state had become a dumping ground for substandard products. According to Obimma, substandard goods and counterfeit drugs is a lucrative business for bad people trading on it but dangerous because it kills and destroys lives in thousands. “Eighty per cent of the drugs and goods in our markets are fake and substandard.
